Fish larva surveys were conducted in the coastal waters of the Persian Gulf in Bushehr prov-ince during November to October The survey covered 10 stations between Farakeh estuary to Genaveh port, aiming to identify the fish larvae, their composition, abundance, and distribution patterns in relation to the measured hydrological factors.   This is the standard mesh size recommended for pelagic fish egg and larval surveys (Smith & Richardson,). The net was towed behind a small boat at approximately m s-1 for 10 min, resulting in about m3 being filtered during each tow, if efficiency is assumed.

The principal objective of the PELMED surveys is to assess the biomass of European anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus) and mediterranean sardine (Sardina pilchardus) populations since based on acoustic cruises between and , were conducted aboard the R/V aim of each cruise was to assess the stock of small pelagic fishes using acoustic methods and continuous. Trawl designed to sample juvenile pelagic fish which can avoid other sampling nets by mid-water trawls. The primary target is mid-sized anchovy (15 – 60 mm). The frame samples a large volume of water while minimizing avoidance by the target organisms. The net filters about 7, m 3 or times as much water per tow as a standard bongo net.

Egg Size Pelagic fish eggs range from mm in diameter to about mm (Figure 1). Among the smallest marine fish eggs are those of certain bothid flatfishes and labrids, whereas the eggs of the pleuronectid flatfish, Reinhard- tius hippoglossoides ( to mm size range), and a muraenid eel from the Mediterranean (ca mm) are the. using standard sampling techniques and equipment al. , Smith and Richardson ). Initially, the research programme on fish eggs and larvae has allowed the training of Tunisian researchers in sampling techniques which allowed seasonal and monthly surveys to be carried out in the Gulf of Tunis.

Currently, we need to identify species of eggs and larvae, particularly of small-pelagic. Ichthyoplankton are fish eggs and larvae that are found mainly in the upper meters of the water column.

During this survey, that is occurring in the region between the Shumagin Islands and Shelikof Strait, we will assess the abundance of a variety of species of Alaskan fish, but especially larval walleye pollock. The dataset contains records of fish eggs and larvae collected during FOCI assessment surveys.

Records include all data pertinent to identify where specimens were collected (lat, lon, date, gear used, max depth of gear, water depth). Specific data on specimens includes scientific name, stage of development, number collected (whole numbers and CPUE), lengths of larvae, and diameters and .Selected bibliography on pelagic fish egg and larva surveys.
